“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
With recent political events, many people are feeling either paralyzed, not knowing what to do, how to do it, or if anything is even effective; or they are highly reactionary only railing against what it happening, but without any focusing on positive ways to move forward in the midst of such fear, anger, and overwhelm.
Today, we honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. Let him be a reminder and a call to living a life of love in action. Let us move forward not with anger and hatred towards others, but with a growing and fierce commitment to looking at what WE can do with love in action. Let us remember to look first in our daily lives. Where might WE be out of integrity with our vision of the world in areas that we have the capacity to make a positive change? What is happening in our community where a little love in service might make a big difference? Let us get involved in getting people we respect elected to local offices (building the ground swell from the GROUND up!) And last but not least, let us be bold enough to come up with creative and loving ways to respond to the hatred and small minded words and actions of those in political office and those on the streets and in the social media world.
Let us honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s life and legacy by seeing how we can step up loving actions in remembering WE ARE ANCESTORS OF THE FUTURE. What do we want our legacy to be? It is being created right now, moment by moment, choice by choice, breath by miraculous breath.
Thank You Martin Luther King Jr. for all you did and sacrificed for those alive during your time and for all of us who have come after. We will do our best to honor you through our words and our ACTIONS!
